“Some netizens had questioned if what I had shared was really true.
“I am now afraid to view my social media as the comments have caused me to ask myself if I had done something wrong in sharing my plight. I’m also worried they will trigger my anxiety disorder.”
The mother of six, who sells burgers with her husband, said she had to resort to using social media as she desperately needed financial assistance for her ailing mother, who needs diapers and other necessities.
She said the prolonged pandemic had affected her family’s income. Sometimes, they only earned RM20 a day.

“I made the video for my mother’s sake. The thunderstorms in Perak have damaged our stall several times. In desperate times, we do whatever we can for the ones we love,” she said.
In the Tik Tok video, she shared her frustrating experience with JKM which took a long time to approve her application for financial aid for her mother who is partially paralysed due to a stroke. The department first informed her that her application was lost and then kept on asking for various supporting documents, Diwiyana claimed.
She said she also faced problems getting financial aid from religious authorities.
The video has garnered up to one million views since Tuesday.
JKM has now informed her that a monthly aid of RM500 for her mother, Selamah Hamid, 73, had been approved from March.

Lembaga Zakat Perak has also promised some assistance, but the amount has yet to be determined.
“Hopefully, by speaking up about the bureaucratic hassles I had faced, I could help to make it easier for others to obtain assistance,” Diwiyana said.
Her family had moved from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh two years ago.
“I thought the application process for welfare assistance would be as easy as it was in Kuala Lumpur,” she said.
